Te āheinga / The opportunity
Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of Northlanders? Join our team as a Transport Operations and Contracts Officer, where you’ll play an important role in supporting and improving public transport across Taitokerau Northland.
In this varied and hands-on role, you’ll be at the centre of delivering reliable, efficient, and customer-focused public transport services. You will oversee the day-to-day operation of key services including CityLink, SchoolLink, and BusLink, ensuring they meet contractual requirements and consistently deliver a high standard of service. From managing the Bee Card ticketing system and associated platforms to overseeing the Rose Street Bus Terminus and its contracts, you’ll play a vital role in keeping services running smoothly and customers well supported. You will also respond to public enquiries and feedback in a fast-paced environment, helping to enhance customer experience and grow patronage across the network.
Alongside operational delivery, you’ll contribute to the effective management of transport contracts, working closely with bus operators to monitor performance, resolve issues, and support contract renewals and retendering processes. You’ll maintain regular engagement with operators through site visits and operational check-ins, while also monitoring fare revenue and carrying out health and safety audits.
This role includes a strong administrative and analytical component, where you will maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and provide monthly data analysis on service performance and trends to inform planning and continuous improvement. If you thrive on variety, enjoy building strong working relationships, and are passionate about delivering high-quality public services, we’d love to hear from you.
