 Te āheinga / The opportunity 

Join our team of dedicated Field Officers as we push to our goal of being possum free across Whangārei Heads peninsula. This position is fixed term through to the end of June 2027 and will involve some public holiday and weekend work on a rostered basis.    

Based out of our Parua Bay field office, the role will include installing and servicing traps and bait stations, track development/maintenance and collecting field data. To be successful in this role you must be confident navigating rough and challenging terrain. 

You will have the opportunity to represent the kaupapa at various stakeholder events, including school programs, and strengthen relationships with mana whenua. You will have a sound understanding of tikanga and the principles of Te Tiriti and mātauranga Māori.

He kōrero mōu / About you 

We are looking for someone who can bring the following skills, knowledge, personal qualities and experience to our diverse team:  

  • Experience in hands-on field delivery work   
  • 2 plus years in a role of relevance 
  • Ability to work unsupervised   
  • Sound understanding of tikanga Māori 
  • Confident navigating rough and challenging terrain.  
  • Local knowledge of the Whangārei Heads whenua 
  • Full drivers licence  
  • Experience in use of Microsoft applications especially Word, Excel and Outlook. 
  • Basic GIS knowledge and skills 
  • Familiarity with GPS and map navigation 
  • Current first aid and 4WD certificate is desirable
