Te āheinga / The opportunity 
This is a unique opportunity to lead a small team of experienced, dedicated governance staff in the delivery of the many facets of exceptional governance support, ensuring effective and legislatively-compliant democratic processes.  You will facilitate clear, accurate flow of information in a complex and ever-changing regulatory environment, connect governance with strategic planning processes, and be instrumental in building a high-performing unit.

Beyond governance, your focus will be on overseeing the review, development, and maintenance of corporate policies and their alignment with operational procedures. You’ll ensure policies are up-to-date, consistent, and relevant—especially those required under the Local Government Act with a link to strategic planning—providing a strong foundation for informed decision-making and organisational integrity.

He kōrero mōu / About you
You will have a deep knowledge and understanding of governance operations and legislation within a local government setting, and a background in people management. You will be a skilled communicator with an ability to foster relationships in fast changing environments. You will have a relevant qualification and be known for building good relationships and delivering high-quality outcomes.
